How do I know if I am following God’s plan for my life?
It certainly would be great to have life’s plan laid out before our eyes....or would it? When I think of a plan, it is the end result I want to know, the final destination, career, job.
If you are in Christ today, you are in His plan! Life is a process, a step-by-step walk of faith. He is using you and preparing you today for things that will help your tomorrows. Search yourself, know your gifts, talents and passions. God wants to especially use them. Stay connected to God in prayer and reading His Word. Seek counsel in trusted friends and family. When decisions arise, God will place people around you who may speak wisdom into your life. Listen, consider. “I will instruct you and teach you the way you should go, I will counsel you and watch over you” (Psalm 32:8).
I was riding on a bus the other day. I knew my destination, however I did not know the route, or about the construction along the way, the detours or the delays. I just needed to trust the driver to get me to where I was going. As Christians, we know our destination, heaven. But what lies between here and there we don’t know, we just need to trust God and live each day to our best.
Hold life gently. Expect changes. Look for God to enter in surprising ways. Then sit back and enjoy the ride.
