How can I help someone when I can't do it myself? My friend has a problem with cutting. She asked me for help but I cut, too. How can I help her? Can I help her?
You have been given a unique opportunity—an opportunity to change not only your own behaviour but also to walk beside your friend as she, too, chooses health and wellness.
How does a lost man help another lost man? You would probably agree; it would never work. If either knew their way, they would not be lost. They would need someone who knew the way to rescue them and to guide them home.
Do you want to expose your struggle? Do you want help?
When we know we are lost, we know we need a guide. When we know we are guilty, we know we need forgiveness. When we know we are sinners, we know we need a Saviour.
Jesus died and rose again to be the Saviour of the world. He calls us all to come to Him in our brokenness. He offers forgiveness. He gives us hope. Trust Him to guide you. He loves you with an everlasting love. You are His special child! "Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in the time of need” (Hebrews 4:16).
Together you and your friend can walk through this with some help. (Please note this is one of those circumstances where you need to get the help of a professional. Check the website page to get further help). The love of your friendship will enable you to support and encourage each other along the way to wellness. God will bless your healing. And He may use you to share your story to help someone else.
