“We are all pencils in the hand of a writing God, who is sending love letters to the world.”
“Now these three remain; faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”
1 Corinthians 13:13
The older I get, the more I realize how little I understand God’s love! When I was graduating from high school I was reading the book Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis. This book is great reading and changed a lot of my thinking. I remember particularly Lewis helping me distinguish between my feelings and the reality of God’s love. I may wake up tomorrow feeling like a real slimeball—unloved and unlovable, but that does not mean God’s love for me is any less that day than the day before. It just means I have some emotions to work through.
My emotions don’t change the constancy of God’s enormous love. His love is never ending and is certainly beyond my comprehension.
I seem always to be waiting for God to criticize me or get angry with me but He just keeps on loving me and blessing me. He’s saddened by the sin which causes so much pain, but He loves me and calls me His dear child. He doesn’t disown me. He gives me Jesus as my Saviour, and through this gift of life I have hope and peace—and His love to share with others.
I pray that you will realize the enormity of God’s love for you and continue to be amazed and stunned by it the rest of your days!
