Well, we’ve talked about most of the other major life decisions so far, so we might as well not avoid the topic that seems always avoided in the church, but never in the media.
Did you know that, if you have watched television as much as the average Canadian teenager, by now you have observed more than 18,000 acts of sexual intimacy? Most everything we see on television says that sex is great, it’s an individual right and everyone ought to do it.
The Bible, however, says that we ought to save sex until marriage and that before and outside of marriage it’s sin. People who follow what the Bible says in this regard are thought to be outdated at best. Waiting until marriage seems stupid to most couples.
In the face of all the pressures you encounter you need to make a wise decision. So, it’s my prayer for you that you will remember that God gives us His laws to protect us—not to harm us or make fun of us. And, even though His laws may not make sense to you and your friends, you can trust that He knows better than you what protects you and keeps you safe from harm. You can trust His love.
His love is why He forgives us when we don’t do the things that protect us. If you’ve already done some things in this area that you aren’t proud of, remember that He loves you and forgives you. And He wants to restore your life and give you a fresh start.
